Employers For Childcare saves families over £14.8 million

Employers For Childcare launches its Social Impact Report 2016/17 today, Social Enterprise Day, to celebrate its continued investment in supporting working families and promoting social and economic development across the UK.

In the period covered by the report (1 June 2016 – 31 May 2017), callers to Employers For Childcare’s Family Benefits Advice Service collectively identified savings of over £14.8 million.

Marie Marin, Chief Executive of Employers for Childcare, said: “I am delighted to launch our ‘Social Impact Report 2016/17’ on Social Enterprise Day. Our invaluable charitable work in support of working parents is only possible through investment by our Social Enterprise, Employers For Childcare Vouchers – the only Social Enterprise Childcare Voucher company in the UK.  Since 2008, as a result of parents and employers choosing to ‘buy social’ and use our Social Enterprise Childcare Voucher Scheme, we have been able to invest £5.2 million into helping working families across the UK.”

The £14.8 million savings are made by parents who seek advice from Employers For Childcare’s Family Benefits Advice Service, a free, impartial and confidential source of advice on childcare and work-related issues for parents. Our Advisors carry out personal benefits checks for parents, tailored to each family’s unique circumstances, as well as helping determine what form of financial support for childcare best suits their needs.

Marie continues, “Our charitable work makes a real difference to parents who use our services. When two thirds of parents tell us they struggle with the cost of childcare and most worryingly, a quarter of those parents turn to means such as credit cards, savings, family and friends and even payday loans to meet their costs, the savings our Advisors can identify for parents are priceless.”

Today, social enterprises throughout the UK and those who support them have been asked to collectively shout out about the good work they’re doing and encourage others to buy social. When people and organisations buy from a social enterprise, they are choosing to spend money with a business that is giving back, reinvesting their profits to address pressing social issues. Employers For Childcare, the only Social Enterprise Childcare Voucher company in the UK, reinvests 100% of the profit made in to their charitable work, which aims to help parents with dependent children get in to work and stay in work.
